Steps To Solve Uncommon PC Errors ..

When working on your Windows computer, you may come across many different errors. Some of these are quite common and are usually displayed to inform you about a user error or a temporary situation. These errors usually resolve on their own, or after you reboot your PC.

However, there are some errors that need a little more attention. These errors don’t occur on a regular basis and you need to perform a few corrective steps to resolve them.

For example, you may come across the ikernel.exe does not load error while using InstallShield to install a software on your Windows XP computer.  This error occurs if the files Stdole32.tlb, Stdole2.tlb, and Stdole.tlb are missing from the Windows/System32 folder. Also, you may encounter msvcrt.dll errors if the DLL file on your computer is the incorrect version.

To resolve these issues, you will have to extract these files from the Windows XP installation CD and copy them to their location on the hard disk. Some of the other tasks that you can perform to resolve missing file errors are:

  • Reinstall or update the program that is reporting the error. Doing this might replace the missing files and resolve the issue.
  • If you do not have the setup disk, try to copy the files from another computer with the same configuration as yours or download the files from a reliable source on the Internet.
  • Perform System Restore to revert your system configuration and system files to the time when your PC was free from errors.

Stop error 0x0000000A may appear when your Windows XP PC is operational and a driver installed on it attempts to access an incorrect memory address. The following are some of the tasks that you can perform to resolve this and many other similar hardware and device driver related problems:

  • First, you must go to the Windows Hardware Compatibility List and ensure that the hardware you are trying to use is compatible with your Windows operating system.
  • Next, go to the hardware manufacturer Web site and check if any updates for your device drivers are available. If you find an update, download and install it on your computer.
  • You must check your memory chips and ensure that they are all compatible with each other and there are no physical problems with them.
  • You must also check your motherboard for any physical damages. You must ensure that the motherboard is compatible with the hardware you are trying to use.

In addition to the above steps, the following are some of the PC maintenance tasks that you can perform to maintain a healthy and error free system:

  • Maintain a healthy and clean Windows registry.  To do this you may use a dependable third-party registry tool.
  • Perform regular full system scans using your antivirus and antispyware tools to ensure that your PC stays free from malware infections.
  • Use disk management tools, such as Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter to maintain a clean and contiguous hard disk.

All these steps will help you optimize your PC and enhance your computing experience.
