All computer users from time to time encounter various error messages or problems with their system. With the proper guidance you can easily enhance your computing experience and keep these errors to a minimum.

In this article, we begin by looking at some general computer errors and methods to fix them. Then we will discuss two common exe processes, jusched.exe and qttask.exe.

General computer errors and ways to fix them

A few examples of general computer errors are, abrupt termination of an application, freezing of a computer program or the whole system, slow system start up or shut down, and slow processing time.

  1. Maintain adequate RAM – RAM is your PC workspace, as it stores the information that is currently being used by your system. Maintaining sufficient RAM will enable faster processing and also prevent your PC from freezing.
  2. Regularly clean the Windows Registry – The registry is the most critical component of your computer. It is important that you regularly clean your system’s registry using an advanced and reliable registry cleaning tool.
  3. Run anti-virus and anti-spyware tools – Malicious programs, such as viruses, adware, and spyware adversely affect the performance of your PC and are often the cause of many dreaded error messages. It is important that you keep your PC safe by installing and running robust anti-virus and anti-spyware utilities.

What is the jusched.exe process and how to disable it

The jusched.exe process is a part of the Java suite that is developed by Sun Microsystems. The process is used primarily for checking for Java updates. You do not require this process to run all the time and can opt to check once a month for Java updates.

Follow the steps below to schedule the jusched.exe process to run on a monthly basis to check for Java updates on a Windows XP:

  1. Go to Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools and select Schedule Tasks.
  2. Double-click on Schedule Tasks in the Schedule Tasks window.
  3. In the Schedule Tasks dialog box that appears, select the Browse button. Now navigate to and chose the jusched.exe command.
  4. Select Next and then chose Monthly to enable the jusched.exe process to run once a month. In the next screen, set the time and months to schedule checking for Java updates.
  5. Type in your username and password.
  6. Click Next and Finish to complete the scheduling process.

You can save sufficient memory space by disabling the jusched.exe process at other times. Follow the steps below to disable the jusched.exe process on a Windows XP:

  1. Open Control Panel and then double-click the Java icon.
  2. In the Java Control Panel window, select the Update tab and clear the Check for Updates Automatically checkbox.

What is qttask.exe?

The qttask.exe file is associated with Quicktime player, which is a video and multimedia player manufactured by Apple. The qttask.exe process installs a system tray icon that provides users with quick access to the QuickTime application.

Common qttask.exe error message

At system start up you may receive the following error message:

“No Disk, Please Insert Disk In Drive D”

Follow the steps below to correct this problem:

  1. Launch the quicktime application by double clicking on the QuickTime player icon present on your desktop.
  2. Choose File, select Open Recent and then click on Clear Menu.
